I love writing my blog and my online content. It is such an interesting world out there! At times, I have found it a more interesting world than the one I live in.
Being home with my twins was a dream come true, but also very difficult. With three kids, no help, and an ill mother, I just wanted to escape from it all. Logging on to play games, check my email, or post to a message board was my escape. Just like afternoon soaps were the saving grace of moms in years gone by, the internet helps moms escape the daily monotony of chores, squabbling kids, and laundry.
But the difference is soap operas ended, the internet is always there.
How can you manage to esacpe the lure of the informatin highway?
By unplugging. My computer is turned off before my kids come home from school. The siren cannot lure me with it's promise of comments or new email if she is silent-black screened. It stays silent until bedtime, unless there is something that needs to be researched.
Is your computer coming between your kids and you? Do you unplug at certain times of the day?

I usually only get the time for blogging and reading in short sessions throughout the day in between other necessaries. My kids are in highschool so a lot of times I am not on because they are!
ReplyDeleteI need to do this...unplug. Since I've just started blogging, it has become quite the obsession. Learning new things, checking out blogs, coming up with post ideas. But I need to unplug during the day and get my "job" done. Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteI know it is hard! I write a lot in Inforbarrel, and it is so hard to stop when the kids come home and I am in the middle of a brainstorm!
